I was so pleased to discover the line art version of the logo I designed for Bramble & Wild being used in such lovely ways, that I thought I would share some snaps from their Instagram page.

Grace’s beautiful blooms and stunning arrangements look ace in these kraft bags, adorned with the gold foiled line art logo.

I was also excited to see some of the shop’s beautiful stationery, with the logo peeping out…

As well as beautiful flowers, you’ll find lots of little gifts to entice you in. If you’re local, and you’re not familiar with Bramble & Wild, I urge you to go! It is a wonderful florist situated on Frome’s historic Catherine Hill, which is peppered with amazing independent shops, and certainly not your average high street.

Flower magazine

Today I received my contributor’s copy of Flower magazine, a beautiful publication based in Birmingham, Alabama.

The commission was as joyful to work on as the pictures suggest! The illustrations accompany an article about how to tailor your garden to excite each of our five senses; sight, sound, taste, smell and touch.

Here is a little peak at the spreads.

I especially enjoyed making the little spot illustrations, which made me want to get out to the allotment (and buy a cat and a pink watering can)!

For the love of snail mail

For me, there’s still something very exciting about putting a hand-written letter through the postbox, and the anticipation of maybe receiving something in return. I also have a small fascination with (and a growing collection of) stickers, so I’ve combined these two pleasures and made some hand-printed stationery kits, comprising hand-printed recycled envelopes, double-sided letter paper featuring two screen-printed designs, and hand-printed sticker designs in a bold magenta colour. I am super pleased with the way these have turned out, and wish that I could pinch a pack for myself, but I have resisted and put them in my shop instead.

All signs point to Lark Vintage

Posted on: July 6th, 2013 by Dawn

Yesterday, I spent the day pretending to be a sign painter. I have never claimed to be good at painting (much the opposite), but I was available in a sign-making emergency, and Lark Vintage owner Hayley said she ‘had a lot of faith’ in me, so we skipped down to the local art shop and I got started on this lovingly hand-made, charmingly wonky shop sign. I definitely got the most pleasure from painting the little flower motifs (after the fluorescent-pink paint disaster had been abolished).

We’re hoping to put some vinyl stickers of the complete logo on the windows, which I think will be a nice touch. What do you think?

Shop launch, tomorrow night at 6pm, 20 Paul Street, Frome! Be there! Also, Frome’s excellent open-air Super Market, which covers the entirety of the town centre, will be taking placed from 2pm. It’ll be my first one (as a customer. I am hoping to be a trader soon!), so I’m very excited. See you there!

Wedding stationery

I am very happy to say that my older sister is getting married to a very lovely man next year, and they kindly agreed to let me design their save the date cards!

If you would like a quote for bespoke wedding stationery (whether that’s save the dates, invitations, or other hand illustrated goods), or you know someone who might, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me and I’d be only too happy to help!

I recently designed a little customer comment card for a lovely friend of mine at Poot. If you haven’t already been to Poot, you must! It’s a charming little vintage shop on Frome’s spectacularly cobbled and independent Catherine Hill, and it’s packed full of treasures and trinkets and beautiful clothes.

Tragically, the last time I paid a visit, I was told that moments after I left, the lovely Emma Thompson had been in to do a spot of shopping herself! Maybe next time, eh.

Greetings!

Managing to stay optimistic in the thick of winter, and dabbling in a bit of greeting card design, with all sorts of ideas springing to mind! The sun has finally shown his face over Bristol, and it really feels like spring is on its way. I have a few very exciting projects in the pipeline, which I can’t wait to share with you, but for now, here are some previews of some cards I’ve been working on…

Summer Holly Day

Posted on: January 27th, 2013 by Dawn

Allow me to introduce you to my lovely friend Holly. Probably one of the most cheerful people I’ve ever met, Holly adds colour wherever she goes, and is a collector of all things beauty related and polka dotted. She’s also a bit nifty with a pen and paper, so she’s harnessed her writing and spending powers and created a wonderful blog called Summer Holly Day where she writes engaging reviews about the products she finds on her travels.

Holly very kindly invited me to design a bright and blooming new header for her blog, so here it is! It’s a lovely, relaxing read, so I urge you to check it out.
