In the print studio

Posted on: August 27th, 2013 by Dawn

Great day in the Drawn in Bristol print studio on Friday! I watched (between lots of fiddling around with the registration sheet and spilling inks) my greeting card design of my favourite Oscar Wilde quote come to life as a three-colour screenprint.

I have added Oscar to my shop, and a framed copy will be appearing in The Print Shop from tomorrow until the end of September.

Ahoy!

Last month, the Drawn in Bristol crew set sail around Bristol, unleashed their sketchbooks and enjoyed a merry bit of tipple on a delightful little cruise on one of the Bristol Ferry Company’s finest vessels.

In exchange, we got out our pens and pencils and created some illustrations featuring the iconic ferry boats that are so dear to Bristol. I drew this fella, by way of thanks, who is holding up Bristol Ferry Company’s entire fleet. Tut.

I also took some photographs of the trip with my beloved film camera. I’ll include a couple below, but please (if you feel inclined), have a look at the rest of the album on the Drawn in Bristol blog here.

For the love of snail mail

For me, there’s still something very exciting about putting a hand-written letter through the postbox, and the anticipation of maybe receiving something in return. I also have a small fascination with (and a growing collection of) stickers, so I’ve combined these two pleasures and made some hand-printed stationery kits, comprising hand-printed recycled envelopes, double-sided letter paper featuring two screen-printed designs, and hand-printed sticker designs in a bold magenta colour. I am super pleased with the way these have turned out, and wish that I could pinch a pack for myself, but I have resisted and put them in my shop instead.

Busy, busy

Wow! It feels like ages since I last gave this blog the time and attention it deserves! I have been very busy crafting new items to sell in the second volume of The Print Shop, which launches tomorrow! In fact, I am moments away from making a delivery of hand-printed stationery kits, a framed copy of my latest print (more to follow) and some new screen-printed placemats.

I have also added some cards to the shop, with a sweet little house and mountain design on the front.

If you can’t make it down to the shop, I have added some new lines to my online shop for your perusal.

Epic! A show about mountains

Posted on: August 8th, 2013 by Dawn

I have gone a bit quiet on the blogging front, while I’ve been penning pictures of booming mountains for a new show that I’m taking part in with two very fine Drawn in Bristol illustrators, Katy Christianson and Martha Ford.

I’m really super duper excited about this show, as mountains are among my favourite things to draw, and I’m sightly in awe of the work these two ladies produce. The exhibition is appearing at The Sho, a lovely gallery in Cardiff. The Dear Leaders are going to be performing an exclusive acoustic set for the exhibition opening on Saturday 17 August, so be sure to come along! More info on the gallery website and Facebook event page.

I thought I’d share some sneaky thumbnails of what I’ve been busy working on. I’ll write about these in more detail soon!
